New Delhi:
As many as 254 lives have been lost in the country due to swine flu during the current year till February 24, with Rajasthan reporting maximum of 105 deaths.
According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 2,267 persons have tested positive for the Influenza A (H1N1) virus across the country, with the maximum of 759 reported from Delhi alone.
It is followed by Rajasthan with 556 confirmed cases of the virus and Haryana has 298 cases while Gujarat has reported 273 confirmed cases.
Gujarat reported the second highest deaths of 49 in the country, followed by 36 in Haryana and 29 in Punjab, according to figures compiled by the Health Ministry.
Despite the highest number of cases, Delhi has reported only 11 deaths, while Maharashtra has reported 13 deaths.
There are also four deaths reported in Chandigarh, three in Madhya Pradesh and two from Andhra Pradesh, with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu reporting one death each due to the virus.
