Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has issued arrest warrants against Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed after admitting Maharashtra government's appeal against a lower court verdict which acquitted them in the 26/11 terror attack case. The same court had found Ajmal Kasab guilty of waging war against India, and sentenced him to death.

Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin are currently in a Lucknow jail in connection with another case.  They will be re-arrested for their alleged involvement in the 26/11 case. Both men were accused of supplying maps of the places targeted in Mumbai to the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

But in May this year,  the court set up at Arthur Road Jail to handle the 26/11 case found there was no evidence against them. (Read: Co-accused Fahim Ansari, Sabahuddin, acquitted)

Describing Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin Shaikh as "blemish-free", the judge had ripped into the Mumbai police for the case made against them.

The Mumbai police had accused Ansari of preparing maps that he passed to Shaikh in Nepal, maps that were then allegedly shared with Pakistani handlers, and that, according to the police, were found with Abu Ismail, the Pakistani terrorist who partnered with Kasab in attacking first Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and then Cama Hospital on 26/11. Ismail was killed when Kasab was captured by the Mumbai police in the city's Girgaum-Chowpatty area a few hours later
