Mumbai:
Three top Commandoes of the National Security Guards (NSG), who fought with terrorists during 26/11 attacks, deposed in-camera before the trial court in Mumbai on Wednesday through video conference.
In keeping with the directives of the Bombay High Court, media was not allowed to cover the procedure.
The witnesses were examined by the Judge M L Tahaliyani and cross-examined by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi.
The Union government had moved the High Court against an order of the trial court which had issued summons to NSG Commandoes to depose about their combat with the terrorists.
The Centre had contended that the skills and techniques used by NSG in fight with terrorists could not be disclosed in the interest of national security.
In the trial court also, Prosecutor Nikam had opposed the deposition of NSG commandoes on the same ground.
After hearing all the parties, the High Court allowed the special court to examine NSG commandoes but directed to keep their deposition in-camera.
