Mumbai: Senior politicians of the Congress, could now be potential witnesses in the 26/11 trial; Union Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay who alleged that ATS chief Hemant Karkare was killed because he was close to cracking the Malegaon case and Narayan Rane who had claimed that the attackers possibly had political support.
"We have told the court that we would like to interrogate them at the trial stage as witnesses," said Ejaz Naqvi, the lawyer of Sabauddin, one of the three accused.
The defence lawyers now have eight days to prepare for the case. Fewer than the four weeks they demanded.
Meanwhile, the debate over Qasab's age, borders on the hilarious. Qasab claims he is not yet 17, while the prosecution insists he is at least 21.
"Qasab has all four wisdom teeth which proves he is an adult," said Public Prosecutor, Ujjwal Nikam.
Both the prosecution and the defence have asked for scientific tests to be conducted to prove that Qasab is an adult.
