2G scam: Anil Ambani meets ADAG executives in jail

2G scam: Anil Ambani meets ADAG executives in jail
New Delhi: Anil Ambani  visited Tihar Jail and met top executives of his Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) in jail in the 2G scam case.

On Tuesday, Mr Ambani had requested that he be allowed to meet them and he was granted permission by the jail officials today.

Tihar Jail's Law Officer, Sunil Gupta, told NDTV, "It was a half an hour meeting. They met in jail number 3. Ambani has now gone to meet Pipara in AIIMS."

Three top executives from ADAG have been accused of setting up Swan Telecom as a front to acquire more spectrum and licenses for Reliance Telecommunications. Gautam Doshi, who is the Managing Director of ADAG, and the two other executives have been charged by the CBI with trying to conceal Reliance's stake in Swan.

The CBI has alleged that funding for Swan was organised overnight so that it could serve as a secret extension of Reliance. According to the rules, no operator could own more than 10 per cent in another company providing telecom services in the same area. Mr Doshi, Surendra Pipara and Hari Nair used Swan to get around that rule, the CBI has alleged.
