New Delhi:
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), probing India's telecom pricing policy in the backdrop of the alleged financial irregularities in allotting 2G mobile phone licences, has begun questioning the nine former telecom secretaries and four former TRAI chairmen from today.
Ex Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman M.S. Verma and Telecom Secretary A V Gokak are expected to appear today.
All of them including Siddarth Behura, who is currently in jail on charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy in 2G scam, held offices between 1998 to 2008.
They would separately depose before the panel regarding policy prescriptions and decisions during this period that allegedly resulted in huge losses to the exchequer.
The JPC will have four sittings from July 7 to July 13 to record the statements of these former bureaucrats.
