New Delhi:
The leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, J Jayalalithaa issued a press statement after A Raja's resignation claiming that he should be arrested for perpetrating the biggest scam in the history of mankind.
Following are the excerpts from that statement
AIADMK welcomes the resignation of A Raja of the DMK as Union Minister of Telecommunications. This overdue resignation is not a case of scaling the moral high ground. Raja had been mocking at all constitutional institutions including the office of the Prime Minister, the CVC, the Delhi High Court, the CAG and even the Supreme Court of India.
What is most disturbing and a cause for great concern is that the official version of the news so far does not say that the Prime Minister insisted on Raja's resignation. On the contrary, the official version put out is that the DMK leader Mr Karunanidhi asked Raja to resign only because Parliament was being stalled every day on his account.
Raja should be charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and should be arrested and tried for perpetrating the biggest scam in the history of mankind.
