Kupwara:
Five terrorists and three Armymen were killed in a fierce encounter between Indian troops and a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate through the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The gunbattle began when the Indian forces challenged the terrorists.
"Acting on a tip off, troops picked up the movement of a group of infiltrating militants along the LoC in Kupwara belt and launched an operation triggering the encounter," a senior Army official at Udhampur-based Northern Command said.
The Army is now looking for one or two more terrorists who may have slipped through.
This is the second major infiltration attempt along the LoC in the last two weeks. (With PTI inputs)
