Three elephants were killed after a passenger train ran over them near Bishnupur of West Bengal's Bankura district on Friday night.
The elephants were crossing the tracks when the train hit them.
A calf and two adult elephants were killed.
Two female adult elephants and a calf were killed in the accident.
Train movement in area has been affected. Purulia Express and a few other passengers trains are stranded on the route, officials said.
