Ranchi: Three students of the Birsa Agriculture University (BAU) in Ranchi have been rusticated on charges of ragging of a junior student, an official said on Monday.
A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged in Kanke police station. The first year student from Forestry department lodged the compliant. All three accused are absconding.
According to the report, five senior students from third year summoned eight students from the first year on Saturday night. They forced the junior students to consume liquor.
Later junior students were thrashed and forced to bathe in cold water.
One of these 1st year students was allegedly tonsured and later forced to write a suicide note. The family members somehow came to know about the incident and informed police and the BAU administration.
The three students rusticated were identified as Feroz Ahmad, Prashant Kumar and Pratap Singh.
"We are investigating the case and action will be taken based on the investigation," said a police official from Kanke said.
