Mobile internet services have been blocked in Kashmir as government fears protests after Friday prayers.

One person was killed in south Kashmir's Anantnag district where a fierce gun battle between security forces and terrorists is underway. The Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint anti-terror operation early this morning after they received information about the presence of terrorists in Arwani village.
A top Lashkar terrorist, Junaid Mattoo, is believed to be among the three terrorists trapped inside a building in the village. Matoo is involved in several attacks on security forces in south Kashmir.
As crowds from adjacent villages marched towards the encounter site. The troops opened fire in which one person was killed and six others were injured. A senior police officer said security forces had to open fire to prevent people from disrupting the operation. Dozens were also hurt during clashes.
"They are throwing stones and protest is on," he added.

There has been a spike in violence in the region in the last few days. Yesterday, two policemen were killed in two separate terror attacks in Srinagar and Kulgam.
A youngster was killed in security forces firing at Rangreth area of Srinagar after clashes last evening.
Police said terrorists shot at and injured a woman after they barged into her house last evening. Her husband was killed in security forces firing during an encounter at Frisal village in February.
