Dispur: Three top leaders of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) faction were killed in a major encounter in the jungles of Kokrajhar in Assam today.
The terrorists have been identified as Rahul Basumatari, Ritu Basumatari and Surgen Borgoyari.
The NDFB (Songbijit) faction was responsible for killing 76 tribals in lower Assam in December 2014.
The faction is a breakaway faction of the NDFB formed after its leader Ranjan Diamary was repatriated from Bangladesh.
It is a part of the umbrella group of terrorist organisations which operate out of Myanmar.
