4 suspected Pakistani spies arrested in Ajmer

Ajmer: Four people arrested in Ajmer in Rajasthan are suspected to be Pakistani spies. They were caught with 70 SIM cards and 15 cell phones.

Sources say the alleged spies were on a mission to collect information on  vital Indian Army, Air Force and Border Security Formations based in Rajasthan.

The men were allegedly passing information to their handlers based in Dubai.

PTI adds: Mohammad Saddique (32), who hails from Uttar Pradesh, Mahboob Ameen (37) of Maharastra and Mohammad Shareef (30) who belongs to Ajmer were arrested from a hotel in Beawar town in that district, police said today.

"Following a tip-off, police raided a local hotel last evening and caught three persons while they were talking on mobile phones to Gulf countries," they said.

"The SIMs were issued in fake names and identities by a local dealer Gautam Sahu (40)," the police said, adding that around 80 SIMs, 16 mobile handsets, documents related to money transfer were recovered from their possession.

Sahu was also arrested, police said.

Sources in the police said the trio in the last five days had spent talktime of Rs three lakh and balance in thousands of rupees was still there in the SIMs when they were caught.

"We are investigating to whom and with what purpose and motive they were talking in Gulf countries, and in what sort of activities they are involved," a police official said, adding they were booked under various sections of PASA (Prevention of Anti Social Activities) act and IPC.
