Earthquake In Manipur: It struck at 5.33 pm at a depth of 20 km.
New Delhi:
A medium intensity 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Manipur on Friday evening reviving memories of the 2016 quake that killed nearly 11 people.
Initial reports said the quake had its epicentre in Churachandpur district that borders Myanmar. It struck at 5.33 pm at a depth of 20 km, the National Centre for Seismology has told the Union Home Ministry.
A home ministry spokesman said the Manipur police had confirmed that no loss of life and property had been reported from Churachandpur district, about 70 km from the Manipur capital Imphal.
Earthquakes of low to moderate intensity are regularly reported from Manipur. The most severe earthquake, of 7.2 magnitude, to hit Manipur in recent decades was in 1988.
