Guwahati: An earthquake of moderate intensity today struck Assam at 9.46 am.
No casualty or damage to property was reported in the quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale.
The tremor lasted a few seconds, jolting buildings.
The epicentre of the tremor was at Karbi Anglong at a depth of 20 kilometres with latitude 26.5 degree north and longitude 93.5 degree east, the MET office said in Guwahati.
