T Raja Singh, BJP MLA from Goshamahal in Telangana was arrested on Tuesday for his alleged derogatory comments against the Prophet Muhammad. The police said that a case was registered under sections of the law relating to insulting religious beliefs.

- He retained his Goshamahal Assembly constituency in the December 2018 Telangana Asembly election.
- Mr Singh, known for his "inflammatory" comments, has dozens of cases against him, mostly for "hate speeches".
- In 2020, Facebook had banned the politician from the platform and Instagram for allegedly promoting hate.
- Mr Singh was a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and later joined the BJP. He is currently the BJP floor leader in the Assembly.
- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had campaigned for him during the Telangana Assembly election.
