Saharsa, Bihar: Five men allegedly planning to bomb a rival village were arrested on Thursday by the police in Bihar. The police made the arrests on Thursday and seized raw materials and other equipment used for making explosives. One of the men who were apprehended was a panchayat head.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a godown located on the outskirts of Saharsa town and found a vehicle loaded with bomb-making tools and materials, senior police officer Prabhakar Tiwari said.

During interrogation, the arrested men had allegedly revealed that they had plans to attack their rivals in Kandaha village.

"One of them has been identified as Rahul Raj, the village head of Pastwar panchayat in the district. Another person Nitish Kumar, a resident of Madhubani district, was an expert in bomb-making," the police officer said, adding that two of them were in an inebriated condition at the time of their arrest.
