The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Tuesday banned a monk after his comments on Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramahansa triggered a controversy.

- Amogh Lila Das, 43, is a monk, spiritual activist, lifestyle coach and motivational speaker, who has been associated with ISKCON for 12 years. He currently serves as the vice president of the Dwarka chapter of ISKCON.

- After completing a degree in software engineering in 2004 from Delhi College of Engineering, he started working for a US-based multinational corporation. He left the corporate job in 2010 and has since become a dedicated Brahmachari (celibate), joining ISKCON at the age of 29.
- He enjoys a huge fan following on social media and his videos about religion and motivation often go viral online.
- His recent remarks on Swami Vivekananda's food habits and on his spiritual teacher Ramakrishna Paramhansa sparked a row, with many criticising the monk and demanding action against him. ISKCON has banned him from public events for a month and has said that the monk regrets his remarks.
