Six people have died and 45 others are injured after a tourist bus in Maharashtra's Palghar district veered off the road and fell into bushes as its brakes failed.
The accident happened near Palghar's Trimbakeshwar road today. A photo from the spot shows the overturned bus lying in bushes as people look on.
The tourist bus was going from Shirdi shrine in Maharashtra to Mahalakshmi temple located in Palghar.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital nearby.
"Palghar administration is also in touch with Nashik officials. My thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones and wish speedy recovery to the injured persons," Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled deaths in the accident. "The bus accident in Maharashtra's Palghar is unfortunate. My thoughts are with the bereaved families and prayers with those injured. The Maharashtra Government will provide all possible assistance to those affected," he tweeted.
