At least six people were killed when a car carrying a wedding party fell into a well in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur on Tuesday. Three other members of the group were safely rescued from the vehicle.
The wedding party was headed to attend a wedding in Uttar Pradesh when the accident happened in the Maharajpur police station limits in Madhya Pradesh.
"The accident took place around Tuesday midnight when the driver failed to spot the unguarded well in Deewanji ke Purva village and the vehicle fell into it," Maharajpur police station in-charge I Z Y Khan said.
The Maharajpur Police reached the spot soon after the accident and pulled the car out of the well.
The victims were identified as Chatrapal Singh (40), Raju Kushwaha (37), Ramratan Ahirwar (37), Ghanshyam Ahirwar (55), Kuldeep Ahirwar (22) and Ramdheen Ahirwar (50), the police said.
Condoling their deaths, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced financial assistance of Rs two lakh to the families of the victims.
