6 Maoists Surrender In Chhattisgarh's Sukma District: Police

Raipur: Six Maoists, one of them carrying cash reward on his head, today surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.

"The cadres surrendered before senior police and CRPF officials citing disappointment with the ideology of Maoists and ill treatment meted out to them by senior leaders," Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police, Santosh Singh, told PTI.

Those surrendered were identified as Kunjam Lakhma, a medical team member of Jagargunda area committee of Maoists, Dubi Lakhma, head of Dandakarnya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangthan - a frontal wing of Maoists, and four lower rung members - Kawasi Lachhu, Dubi Hunga, Kawasi Kosa and Kawasi Budhra, he added.

Dubi Lakhma was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, he added.

An encouragement amount of Rs 10,000 was given to the six surrendered Maoists. They will be further ensured facilities as per the rehabilitation and surrender policy of the state government, the ASP said.

In a separate incident, two Janmilitia members identified as Madvi Sukka (38) and Madvi Linga (32) were arrested from Lakhapal village under Kukanar police station limits, he said.

They were rounded up during patrolling by a joint team of CRPF and district force in the Kukanar region, located around 450 kms away from Raipur, he added.
