62 IAS officers fail to submit property returns

New Delhi: 62 IAS officers have failed to submit their Immovable Property Returns (IPR), prompting the government to issue a fresh reminder today to them.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), a nodal ministry for service matters of IAS officers, sent the reminder, third in the recent times, to concerned ministries asking for immediate submit of IPRs by  2011 defaulters.

The name of eight officers working with Department of Posts, seven with Defence ministry,  six with Home ministry, five with Social Justice and Empowerment ministry and four each in ministries of Health and Family Welfare and Women and Child Development among others appeared on the list of defaulters by the DoPT.

Besides, 13 officers who are on deputation or on long leave, two officers working in Heavy Industries Ministry and one each in Department of Ayush, Ministry of Coal, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Department of Financial Services, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Department of
Revenue, Department of Rural Development and Department of Telecommunications have not yet submitted details of their property, it said.

"Ministries or departments are well aware that the Immovable Property Returns in respect of CSS officers (Under Secretary and above level) are required to be furnished to this division by January 31, this year. However, despite reminders the IPR for the year 2011 (due date January 31, 2012) in respect of a few officers are yet to be received," the reminder said.

It asked the concerned departments "to obtain the IPRs from the defaulting officers" immediately.

In its earlier note, the DoPT had asked for appropriate action against officers who failed to submit IPRs within the stipulated date besides ensuring that appropriate entry regarding late submission or non-submission of IPR is made in the relevant Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) of the concerned officer.
