Lucknow: At least seven persons lost their lives in parts of Uttar Pradesh due to cold wave and accidents caused by dense fog, which also continued to paralyse rail and road traffic today.
The lowest minimum temperature was 2.5 degrees Celsius in Shahjahanpur district.
Three persons were killed in Mainpuri and one each in Barabanki and Badaun districts in road accidents due to low visibility caused by fog.
In Barabanki, Ramadhar (55) and a two-year-old child died due to cold wave in Haidergarh area since last night, police said.
Revenue department teams have been sent for collecting details, SDM Haidergarh, DP Singh said.
Rail and road traffic continued to be adversely hit by fog. Most of the trains passing through the state were running several hours behind the schedule.
