Security forces have killed seven terrorists during three counter-insurgency operations in north Kashmir's Kupwara distrcit.
The first operation was launched at Warnow village in Lolab area Thursday morning after army and police received information about the presence of heavily armed terrorists in the village. In the ensuing encounter three terrorists were killed.
Hours after Lolab encounter, gun battle started at Drugmulla near Kupwara town. After five-hour encounter, three more terrorists were killed. Security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the site of encounter.
Army says one terrorist was killed in an operation that is underway in Wader forest area of Rajwar.
Infiltration has dramatically gone up this year. Over 50 to 60 terrorist, mostly from Pakistan, have reportedly infiltrated in the last five months.
However, the security forces and police have launched a series of successful operations and several terrorists have been killed in recent gun battles in north Kashmir.
