Two men were arrested by the police in connection with the death of 75-year-old widow in Burdwan, West Bengal on Wednesday.
The duo, residents of Chapra in neighbouring Nadia District, used to earn money by ferrying passengers on their ponies which they had brought to the ongoing annual 'mela' at Katwa.
On March 18, say police, the two tied their horses in the front yard of the ashram where the woman lived. The men got into an altercation with the woman when she objected, said the police adding that allegedly beat her up. She fell unconscious and the woman was later found dead in the morning.
The post mortem report, which ruled out rape, suggests that the woman died due to fatal blows.
