Kolkata: Eight people were killed today when a bus fell into a canal at a village in West Bengal's Nadia district, the police said. Twenty-five others were injured in the accident at Tehatta village, 150 kilometres from state capital Kolkata.
Police said the bus overturned before it fell into the canal, adding they are trying to find out the cause of the accident. It was going from Krishnagar to Palassey in the same district.
The injured people have been taken to hospital.
The district magistrate said it will pay Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who died in the accident.
