Kolkata: Eighty-two new cases of dengue have been reported in West Bengal, taking the total number of the afflicted cases since January to 1,342, a senior Health Department official said today.
The number of deaths due to the vector-borne disease, however, remained static at two, state Director of Health Services Biswaranjan Satpathy told PTI.
The new cases were reported from Kolkata, Howrah, North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts and one from Darjeeling, the health official said.
He said he had asked the hospital authorities to look into the patient's medical reports before declaring it to be a death due to dengue."
