New Delhi: Nine people have been killed and 17 others injured in a bus accident at Nagaon in Assam today at around 2 am in the morning.
The bus belonged to the Assam State Transport Corporation and was going from Lakhimpur district to the state capital of Guwahati.
A total of 33 people were reportedly on the bus. The injured have been taken to the Nagaon hospital.
The bus was reportedly speeding and had hit a culvert -- a pipe-like structure that allows water to flow under a road or railway line. The accident site was nearly 100 kilometres away from Guwahati.
