96 per cent Delhi women feel unsafe: Report

New Delhi: A report on harassment faced by women in the city's public places hascome up with rather disturbing results, which may dent Delhi's image asa global city. The survey was conducted by a non-profit organisationcalled the Centre for Equity and Inclusion.

According to the report:

  • 96 per cent feel they are not safe in Delhi
  • 82 per cent feel bus is the most unsafe mode of transport
  • Over 60 per cent say girls less than 10 years are most vulnerable
  • 88 per cent feel when women are harassed, they rarely get help
  • 19 per cent feel that victims should report to police
  • 44 per cent abused respondents chose to remain silent after incident
  • 95 per cent respondents reported restricted mobility due to fear of being harassed by men
  • Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Rohini among the most unsafe locations
Theorganization is working towards the empowerment of marginalised andexcluded sections of the population, with a special focus on women.
