Rewa, Madhya Pradesh: In more embarrassment for the Madhya Pradesh government, around 35 juveniles accused of serious charges like rape, murder and assault escaped from a reform home in the state yesterday.
The teenagers reportedly fled from the reform home in Rewa district last night after attacking the cook and snatching keys from him. Nine of them were caught after an overnight search operation.
The incident happened a day after seven prisoners escaped from a jail in the Khandwa district. Six of the men allegedly belong to the Students Islamic Movement of India or SIMI, which was banned in 2001 over its alleged terror links. The seventh one was caught the same day.
The union home ministry has asked the state government to explain the security lapse. Six jail officials were suspended.
