New Delhi:
The Narendra Modi government is all set to make a big splash on November 26 to mark the day the draft of Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly.
The Parliament building has been lit up. The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has cleaned up the building and gardens have been spruced up.
The ministry of social welfare has issued a circular to all government departments asking officials and employees to gather in the offices and read out the Preamble of Indian Constitution. Departments have also been asked to organise events in the offices to mark the day.
The government has also succeeded in pushing for a debate on the role played by Dr BR Ambedkar in the framing of Indian Constitution on the first two days of Winter Session of Parliament. The reading of the preamble and debate in Parliament is all part of the BJP's effort to create a build up for the 126th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar in 2016.
The Draft Constitution was submitted to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947. The Draft Constitution was debated and over 2000 amendments were moved over a period of two years. Finally on November 26, 1949, the process was completed and Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution. 284 members signed the document and the process of constitution making was complete.
The reading of the preamble is the second such move by the NDA government. Last year, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government had sent circulars to all its employees asking them to take an oath on October 2, when the nation celebrates Gandhi Jayanti, to keep their environment clean.
