A Football Injury Brought A Good Luck Charm To Akhilesh Yadav

Asked if he felt bad about his nose being shown prominently in cartoons, Mr Yadav said it was his good luck charm.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said he has no problems with his nose being the defining feature of his face and that he thought it was his "good luck charm".

"I became Chief Minister with the same nose and it is a good luck charm," he said at a book release function.

The book, "Tipu ka Afsana", is a compilation of cartoons on him, a majority of which highlight his nose, red cap, and cycle, the election symbol the his party.

The selection met the approval of the Chief Minister, nicknamed Tipu.

Asked if he felt bad about his nose being shown prominently in the cartoons, Mr Yadav said he got the injury on his nose while playing football.

"Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) took me to a doctor who asked me if I was married. After knowing that I'm married, he said there was no need for any surgery to rectify my nose," he said. "I became a chief minister with the same nose and it is a good charm."

He asked the publishers to treat this as the first volume and try for bringing out the second.

"There are many cartoons left that might be included in the second volume. There are legal hurdles as not everyone is ready to share cartoons. It will be worked out," Mr Yadav said.
