Luck smiled on the children of Chennai Police personnel during thisspecial week - the Joy of Giving Week. Over two hundred of them arelikely to get jobs at an exclusive job fair for the families of policeforce employees. Thanks to a unique initiative of Chennai's top cop.
This is a first of its kind employment fair for the children of ChennaiPolice, which attracted more than seven hundred candidates and manyleading companies. A thoughtful gesture by the City Police Commissionerfor the children of men and women in khaki.
"Policemen do not have the time to focus on their families and their children's placement after spending twelve grueling hours everyday at work. So we thought we should address this in some way," said T Rajendran, Chennai Police Commissioner.
Sixteen of them were fortunate enough to receive job offers; two hundred others were shortlisted.
"It's a good opportunity. I am so happy. A nice effort by Chennai Police," said a woman present at the fair.
And that's not all, even the wives of policemen will soon get the chance to work from home as insurance agents, among few others.
The joy from this week will be felt for a long time to come for these families.
