New Delhi:
Ajit Kumar Seth, a 1974-batch IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre, assumed charge as the new Cabinet Secretary today.
The 59-year old Seth, who will head Cabinet Secretariat, the agency which coordinates functions among various union ministries, will have a fixed tenure of two years.
He replaced K M Chandrasekhar who retired today after serving in the post for four years, including two extensions.
Seth was earlier OSD in the Cabinet Secretariat. He has also been Secretary (Coordination) in the Cabinet Secretariat and has served in different capacities at the Centre as well as in states.
