Guwahati: A medium intensity earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale hits Assam and Meghalaya this afternoon.
According to the India Meteorological Department's website, the earthquake struck the region at 3:13 PM and it measured 4 on the Richter scale.
The epicentre was at East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya at a depth of 10 km from the ground.
No immediate report of any damage to property or injury to people has been received.
