A royal dispute over Gayatri Devi's assets

A royal dispute over Gayatri Devi's assets
Jaipur: Close to Gayatri Devi's bungalow, the Lily pool, officials from the government are busy putting together an estimate of the land that belonged to the late Rajmata's estate. The government claims that it acquired the Lily pool estate in 1993 but was not allowed possession by a high court stay in 2004.

"Earlier we were not allowed entry into Lily Pool but now we will assess the land and see how much of the bungalow portion falls into the land we have acquired," said Sudansh Pant , Commissioner Jaipur Development Corporation.

But it is just not the government, Gayatri Devi's grandson who was reconciled recently with his grandmother finds himself also fighting the family. For many years he lived in Thailand with his mother who divorced Jagat, Gayatri Devi's only son but it was Gayatri Devi who initiated a reconciliation with her grandchildren.

"I am very grateful to my grandmother who brought me back to Jaipur," said Devraj , Gayatri Dev's grandson.

But despite the reconciliation sources suggest that after her death Devraj was not allowed to enter Lily pool. But so far the family is keeping the feud under wraps. The Jaipur royals are in mourning, but once Gayatri Devi's will is made public, this dispute could get uglier.
