Patiala: Aam Aadmi Party lawmaker from Delhi, Naresh Yadav, was grilled by the Punjab Police for nearly four and a half hours in Patiala on Tuesday in connection with a case of alleged desecration of a scripture at Malerkotla on June 24.

The main accused arrested by the police had alleged that Mr Yadav had promised him Rs 1 crore for the act following which summons were issued to the lawmaker.

Mr Yadav was accompanied by AAP's Punjab unit in charge Sanjay Singh, who told the media, "Our MLA is being falsely implicated by Punjab police in this case. Whenever they will ask we will appear to answer their queries."

After going through the long questioning process, Mr Yadav said, "I am being framed in this case, but I have full faith in country's judiciary, whenever I will be asked to join investigation I will do so."

Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police Pritpal Singh Thind, who is heading the investigation into the desecration incident, said that Mr Yadav answered some questions but he evaded a few.

"We are conducting narco test on accused Vijay Kumar on July 7 in Ahmedabad. If need arises we will summon Naresh Yadav again," Mr Thind told mediapersons.
