AAP leader Kumar Vishwas heckled at press conference in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas' press conference was disrupted in Lucknow today after a man raised slogans against him for his comments about Muharram.

The protester, Saif Zafri from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, also hurled paper balls at the AAP leader and was whisked away from the venue by the local police.

Earlier this week, Mr Vishwas apologised for his comments he made about Muharram, but claimed that videos in which he is seen making the offensive comments have been edited by the BJP and other parties to represent him in a poor light.

"Since I have joined the movement against corruption, all the parties are running edited versions of those videos as per their convenience. As soon as I got to know about it, I apologised for it. If anybody's religious sentiments are hurt, it was not my intention. It is an edited part of what I had said," he had said.

Mr Vishwas, a Hindi poet and professor, has said he plans to stand against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for the parliamentary seat from Amethi. The 43-year-old is currently in Uttar Pradesh to kick-start his party's Lok Sabha campaign from Amethi. He is scheduled to hold a rally in Amethi tomorrow and pose a challenge to the congress Vice President in his constituency.
