New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and his party colleague Satyendar Kumar Jain today congratulated Sakshi Malik's father on her sensational win in the Rio Olympics, and said that Ms Sakshi made "all of us proud".
Mr Sisodia called the bronze medal winner's family and extended his greetings, as well as shared a tweet by cricketer Virendra Sehwag, which said, "Poora Bharat is baat ka Sakshi hai, jab koi bht mushkil ho toh is desh ki ladkiyan hi Malik hain. Thank U (Whole India is a witness to the fact that it's always the nation's women who come on top whenever there's a difficulty)."
Ms Malik's father Sukhbir, a bus driver, received a congratulatory call from Jain too.
Ms Malik, on Wednesday, became only the fourth woman from India to win a medal at the Olympic games when she defeated Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan for bronze in the 58 kg category.
She is the only one so far to have won a medal for the country in this Olympics.
