New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today accused the BJP of scripting its rebel legislator Vinod Kumar Binny's public accusations against the party. Mr Binny has accused his AAP of reneging on its promises to people after coming to power, and described party chief Arvind Kejriwal as a 'dictator.'
"Binny spoke as if he was reading out notes of the BJP. Whatever he read was scripted by the BJP, " said AAP leader Yogendra Yadav shortly after Mr Binny declared war on the party and target its top leaders.
"There is no place for indiscipline in the party. We are left with no option but to take disciplinary action," Mr Yadav said.
Mr Binny, a former Congressman, accused Mr Kejriwal and his cabinet of going back on their vow to shun government perks like cars and big houses. He described Mr Kejriwal as a dictator who rages and "shouts" when things are not going his way. ('Kejriwal is a dictator': rebel Binny's 5 big complaints against AAP).
"Arvind Kejriwal should stop fooling people," said the 39-year-old MLA.
The MLA threatened to begin a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, the site of many protests by Mr Kejriwal and Co, if the party did not meet his demands aimed, he said, at making the AAP accountable to the people.
AAP said Mr Binny's charges were almost identical to those raised by BJP's Harsh Vardhan in the Delhi assembly.
Mr Kejriwal had alleged that the MLA was sulking at being denied a ticket to contest the national election, due by May.
This was vehemently denied by Mr Binny, who called his party chief a liar. "He who has lied should resign from his position, be it Arvind Kejriwal or I. There is a difference between what AAP says and does." he said. (Watch video)
Speaking on the one-year-old party's rebel headache so soon after taking power, Kiran Bedi, who worked alongside Mr Kejriwal for Anna Hazare's Lokpal crusade, said, "Now it's time to introspect on the promises you make. Don't make tall promises but realistic promises."
