Ghaziabad:
The CBI will tell a Ghaziabad court today what they have done to execute a non-bailable warrant issued by the court against Nupur Talwar, an accused in the murder of her 14-year-old daughter Aarushi Talwar, along with her husband Rajesh Talwar.
It is not clear if Nupur Talwar will attend today's hearing.
During the last hearing, the special CBI court issued a non-bailable warrant against Nupur after she failed to appear in court and her lawyers could not come up with convincing explanation about her absence.
The CBI said in the court that Nupur had no legal reason not to appear, following which the non-bailable warrant was issued, but Nupur then approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail.
The Supreme Court will hear her plea this week. The CBI had assured the Supreme Court during the last hearing on April 13 that Nupur will not be arrested till the matter is heard.
In another matter, the Supreme Court had also clarified to the CBI that Mrs Talwar can move freely in Delhi-NCR and that does not restrain the investigating agency from taking action against her.
Aarushi was found dead in her bedroom at the Talwars' home in the Delhi suburb of Noida in May 2008. The Talwars' domestic help, Hemraj, was discovered dead on their roof a day later.
Both the Talwars are dentists. Mr Talwar was arrested a week after Aarushi's death but was later released on bail when the CBI said it did not have any evidence against him. He is currently on bail.
When the CBI asked the Ghaziabad court in December 2010 if it could close the Aarushi case, the judge refused.
The CBI said it still did not have enough evidence against anyone connected to the case, but it reiterated its belief that Mr Talwar was responsible for his daughter's death. The court then asked for her parents to be tried for murder and destruction of evidence.
