Allahabad:
Nupur Talwar, accused with her husband Rajesh of murdering their only child, Aarushi, will stay in jail. The Allahabad High Court has rejected Mrs Talwar's request for bail.
She was arrested on April 30 and has been imprisoned at a jail in Ghaziabad near Delhi since then.
The trial for the Talwars, who are both dentists and have been accused of murder and destruction of evidence, will start on June 4 in a Ghaziabad court. The couple have appealed to the Supreme Court to cancel their trial - that petition has yet to be decided.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the murders of Aarushi and the Talwars' domestic help, Hemraj, argued against her bail in court. The agency also plans to ask for Mr Talwar's bail, granted months ago by the Supreme Court, to be revoked.
13-year-old Aarushi was found killed in her bedroom in May 2008. The initial suspect was Hemraj, who was missing. But hours later, his body was found on the Talwars' terrace.
The CBI has said in the trial court that it has circumstantial evidence against the Talwars. In December 2010, the agency asked a CBI court for permission to close the case - it said it had no evidence to accuse anyone of murder, but said at the same time that it believed Mr Talwar was responsible for the double murder in his home. The judge in that court said the case would not be closed and ordered the Talwars to stand trial. Since then, Aarushi's parents have challenged that verdict in different courts.
