New Delhi:
In a partial relief, the Supreme Court today admitted the review petition filed by Nupur Talwar, mother of Aarushi Talwar who was killed in 2008 at Noida, seeking to quash the case against the dentist couple.
The court, however, rejected her plea to stay the trial at the trial court in Ghaziabad.
During the hearing today, Nupur's lawyer argued that the CBI didn't consider to conduct touch DNA test and ignored vital evidence like pillow covers seized from Krishna, who worked in Rajesh Talwar's clinic and was arrested in connection with the case. Krishna was later granted bail.
They also said that the investigation agency is spreading disinformation about the Talwar family.
The court then issued a notice to CBI. The case will now come up for hearing on April 27.
On January 6 this year, the Supreme Court had rejected the Talwars' plea to close the case against them and directed them to stand trial before Ghaziabad special CBI court. The trial court refused to accept the closure report filed by the CBI in December 2010, and took cognizance of the case.
