Deposing before a CBI court in Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, a former forensic science expert said on Monday that there is a possibility the deep cuts on the teenager and the domestic help's throats could have been inflicted with a 'Khukuri' (Nepalese knife).
Dr R K Sharma, former head of the department of forensic science at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), told the court of Additional Sessions Judge Shyam Lal, that Aarushi's post-mortem report mentioned 'sliced carotid artery' and it is difficult to slit it using a scalpel, as the artery is deep inside the neck.
A khukuri is a sharp-edged and winding knife, Mr Sharma said, adding that one stroke using a khukuri can slit throat.
Mr Sharma is the fourth defence witness of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar and recording of his statement in the case will continue on Tuesday.
