New Delhi:
Parliament's winter session is going to start on Thursday, and you can expect it to be a stormy one as the government has hinted that the Liberhan report on the Babri mosque demolition may be tabled in the House.
But what could be its implications for the BJP's internal feud?
"The Marathi surname Gadkari means the one who protects the fort," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
It is the first official indication by the BJP that Nitin Gadkari may inherit the party's fort. That's one element of saffron party's succession plan drawn by the RSS becoming clear. But the big one - what next for L K Advani - faces a new political twist.
There are two possibilities for the BJP if the Liberhan report is indeed tabled in the House on Thursday.
The RSS has been pressurising Advani to go. So if he is indicted the RSS may find it tough to dump Advani, and he may re-emerge as the Hindutva mascot.
The other scenario is that the Liberhan report may indict the RSS. Then the Sangh may need Advani, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj to defend it in Parliament, making it even difficult for the RSS to dump Advani.
Or there's another option: Take a page out of Sonia Gandhi's book and make Advani the chairperson of the BJP parliamentary party of both Houses.
