Gurgaon:
Mahi, the five-year-old girl stuck in a 70-feet borewell at Khaow village near Gurgaon for over 80 hours will be brought out soon. But the wait since morning has been long and agonising. The rescue team of the Army reached the child this morning and she was expected to be out soon after. But it's been several hours and there's still no sign of how much longer it will take. It appears like the presence of rocks in the underground terrain is delaying the operations. The officials are not able to dig through the rocks, so they are now trying to widen the tunnel through which they plan to bring out baby Mahi.
Doctors and emergency services remain on standby at the site to treat her and rush her to the hospital.
Mahi's rescue has been marred with several roadblocks inspite of more than 100 people from multiple agencies coming in.
Last night Gurgaon Metro officials who have brought in machinery being used for building the Metro, had to find a fresh route to reach her even though the jawans were just millimetres away.
This, because the presence of a hard rock made it tougher for them, as using machines would have injured her.
Through the last four days, the army jawans have been trying to manually remove rocks and loose gravel as using machines could have caused a cave in, thereby injuring her or damaging buildings nearby whose foundation could have weakened.
Even Reliance Industries, helping in her rescue, brought in something called 'ground penetrating radar' that zeroed in on her exact location. After which oxygen was being supplied to her. However, the width of the borewell being small, no water or food could be sent down.
For now though, the entire village is hoping and praying that Mahi who ironically celebrated her 5th birthday just a day before she fell, comes out alive and safe.
