Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will share the stage with Congress president Sonia Gandhi today at the foundation-laying ceremony of a centre of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) at Kisanganj, 400 km from Patna. Mr Kumar's invitation to the ceremony came only two days ago after a war of words between his government and the Centre.
The Bihar government had expressed anguish over its representatives not being invited to the event with Mr Kumar saying on Tuesday, "It shows the UPA government's work culture and nature."
Invitation letters from Union Human Resources Development minister MM Pallam Raju and Vice-Chancellor of AMU reached the Chief Minister and state education minister PK Shahi a few hours after Mr Kumar's scathing remark.
The Bihar Chief Minister had claimed that it was his idea to establish a centre of the Uttar Pradesh-based university in the state, saying his government gave land free of cost for it.
The Congress hit back saying the Bihar Chief Minister was raking up a controversy over the issue and the AMU centre was Mrs Gandhi's 'dream project'.
