New Delhi:
Two days after a
stinging attack on the BJP leadership by party veterans for the Bihar debacle, more voices continue to speak out in dissent.
Speaking to NDTV, Bhola Singh, a BJP Parliamentarian from Bihar, said, "Cancer has spread throughout the BJP which has to be removed. Top leadership alone which took all decisions has to take responsibility for defeat. Amit Shah must explain reasons for defeat of the party. If not accepted he must go."
Also, while the party has officially exonerated Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his comments on reservation, BJP Vice President CP Joshi said the remarks were indeed leveraged by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and ally Lalu Yadav for their win.
On the same day, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, affiliated with the RSS, the ideological mentor of the BJP,
red-flagged the government's decision to open the doors for more foreign investment.
General Secretary of the group Virjesh Upadhyay said, "We are not against investments. But when you look at the numbers, there has been eight times more outflow of investments than foreign investments. If all stake holders are not consulted in the process before taking a call, we will take to the streets."
The trouble, both within and outside the party, comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the UK on a three-day visit where drawing business and investment are high on his list of priorities.
But the BJP, which was quick to rebut the veterans' letter, maintains that differences within are not a sign of trouble.
"It's not a headache for the party. No point comparing FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and leaders speaking. RSS has nothing to do with the government. The BMS is an independent organisation. The government will do what it has to with FDI. As far as different voices speaking out are concerned, it only shows that there is internal democracy that exists within the party," BJP Spokesperson Nalin Kohli said.
