New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley today said that Afzal Guru's execution had been long delayed and public opinion in the case eventually compelled the government to act.
"The government has been unable to explain the delay in execution. But finally the law has taken its course. Public opinion compelled the government to act and enforce the law," Mr Jaitley said.
The BJP leader said the country must unite against terrorism and give the world a message that India is not a soft state. "Though belated, justice has been done," he said.
