New Delhi:
Finance Minister P Chidambaram met Bharatiya Janata Party's top leaders including LK Advani and Arun Jaitley on Tuesday.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament is to begin today and the BJP-led Opposition is likely raise the issue of the 2G spectrum auction. The empowered group of ministers, who have been appointed to decide on the issue of fresh 2G licenses, is headed by Mr Chidambaram.
The BJP is also likely to target Mr Chidambaram and the government on the Aircel Maxis deal. In the previous sessions of Parliament, the BJP had asked Mr Chidambaram to quit over the issue.
The BJP claims that Mr Chidambaram, in 2006 when he was the Finance Minister, deliberately delayed sanctioning of the sale of telecom firm Aircel to a company from Malaysia named Maxis deal by several months so that his son could invest in the telecom firm and benefit from Maxis' acquisition of the company.
